My Current Hair Care Routine + Fave Products

my hair type

My hair gets oily very quickly, I like a shampoo that gets it clean but not too dry, and a light moisturizing shampoo to make it soft but not weighed down! I always use a heat protectant and volumizing mousse every time I blow dry. I wash & dry my hair usually about twice a week!

To keep my hair lasting 3-4 days, I love dry shampoo. My tip is apply it before you go to bed, wear your hair up In a loser ponytail with a scrunchy, and it will help preserve your hair/curls for at least 2-3 more days.

How often I clean

I wash my hair usually 2 times a week. The tips above help me go that long. Washing less means left blow drying, less heat styling (curling and flat iron), and less damage! This has really helped me grow my hair out over the last year and makes a huge difference.

How I’ve grown my hair out

I’m going to do a full post on how I’ve grown my hair out over the last year – this is the longest I’ve ever been able to grow out my hair since I started highlighting it! ๐Ÿ™‚ My biggest tip besides washing/drying/heat styling less is to find a stylist that you trust. My hair stylist Jenn respects my length goals and doesn’t trim every time I go in. When she does, I always tell her that I don’t want to notice that my hair is short and that I don’t want to use any length. She does a dusting and micro-trim to keep my ends healthy and strong! It’s been a night and day difference in my length since I started seeing Jenn last summer, and I trust her so much with my length and color! ๐Ÿ™‚

Use a heat protectant when you blow dry – the one I use is my all time fave as it works and doesn’t weigh my hair down or make it greasy. I also use this scalp revitalizer spray around my scalp to help with post partum hair regrowth!

Products I use:

Shampoo – love this one. Cleans well, leaves it soft but not heavy! I get mine from Nordstrom because it’s free shipping! I also love the Aterna Densifying Shampoo for adding volume and overall fullness from roots to ends. Sometimes I’ll wash first with the Briogeo and then wash with the Atlerna Densifying shampoo second. I always wash my hair twice no matter what shampoo I use! :)!

Conditioner – leaves hair very soft and hydrated, while being lightweight.

Heat protectant – amazing and smells great. Doesn’t weigh hair down and is the only heat protectant I’ve used for around the last 2 years now. I also really like the matching shampoo & conditioner.

Hair Regrowth Spray – I use it around my hairline from the top to bottom of my head to help with the hair loss I had around my face! I use this about every other time I was my hair.

Deep conditioner – I really don’t feel condition as my hair type is pretty fine (even though I have a good amount t of hair). I use this deep conditioner when I need extra hydration

Keeping my hair blonde – I love using a purple shampoo and leave on my hair for 5 mins or so to help neutralize warmth/yellow/orange tones. I like my blonde to be bright and white and this helps keep it that way. This purple toning mask is also wonderful (my fave!) and I use it 2-3 times a month!

Volumizing mousse – this ones my tried and true as it adds volume, leaves hair soft, and isn’t stiff.

Dry shampoo – The Batiste XL spray dry shampoo is my favorite and I also love the powdery kind that aren’t aerosol. The Briogeo Scalp Revival Dry Shampoo is my fave non-aerosol and lasts a very long time! I prefer the non aerosol if my hair is really greasy! It’s also free shipping from Nordstrom!

Volume Spray – I love this for adding fullness from my mid lengths to ends and then at my roots around my face! A little goes a long way and it lasts forever! ๐Ÿ™‚

Hair spray – I occasionally use hair spray and really like this Living Proof light hold hairspray as it is light, has good hold, and smells good!

styling tools

I use the T3 Cura Hair Dryer from Nordstrom and the t3 1″ wand most days to curl my hair. I also use the t3 clipped curling iron attachment to curl my hair for looser waves! The Babyliss 1″ Curling Iron is another amazing hair tool if you’re not ready to splurge on the T3! ๐Ÿ™‚ I use the T3 Flat Iron in days I straighten my hair.

vitamins

I don’t take biotin or any other hair supplements. To me, I’ve never noticed enough of a difference to continue taking them and spending money on them. I do still take my prenatal gummy vitamins though, they are delicious and full of so many wonderful vitamins!

I do take collagen powder every single day. I’ve been doing this for the past 2-3 years now and I’ve noticed a huge difference in my overall skin appearance. I think it has helped with my hair health too! I take once scoop daily and mix it into my oatmeal! I also took it during my pregnancy and I really feel like it helped prevent stretchmarks for me. I’ve taken it the entire time while nursing too, and don’t plan on ever stopping taking it haha.
