Hey y’all! I get so many questions on what I’m doing for my workouts now to lose my baby weight. Thankfully I didn’t gain that much during my pregnancy, but I was very eager to get my body back after having Olivia. 🙂 This is everything that I’m doing now, and I’m so proud that I’m back to my pre-pregnancy size and weight! I was back to my pre-pregnancy weight around 2-3 weeks PP, and  my pre-pregnancy size about 9-10 weeks PP.

Remember that it took knots 10 months to grow your beautiful baby, so be patient with your body as it will take time to get back to ‘normal.’

pregnancy weight gain

I’m not really sure what the “trick” is to not gaining a ton during pregnancy, but my biggest tip that I followed is not eating for 2! Just eat for 1, keep moving, eat pretty clean, and you’ll be good! During my pregnancy I worked out 3-4 days a week up until my 3rd trimester. I walked almost daily throughout my entire pregnancy and I feel like this helped a ton too! 30 minutes or so daily is all it takes. 🙂 I still had lots of treats, sweets, and all that good stuff, just in moderation!

Diet

Now postpartum, I’m basically eating the same way. I’m eating clean for the most part, and not counting calories. I do make sure I get enough protein, so I will track my protein intake from time to time on My Fitness Pal. I usually aim to get 1g of protein per 1lb that I weigh per day. So, I weigh 140lb, I aim to get 140g of protein every day! I miss this goal a lot, but it’s nice to have something to aim for.

A typical day I eat breakfast, snack, high protein lunch, snack, dinner, and then a dessert/snack after Liv goes to bed. For breakfast I eat instant steel cut oatmeal almost every single day. It’s super yummy and easy, so win win! For my snacks I typically eat greek yogurt, or cheese with deli meat! Just something substantial to hold me over until the next meal. For lunch, I love the Healthy Choice Simply Steamers (the broccoli chicken Alfredo is my fave!). Again, quick and easy! I’ve also been into sandwiches lately with lots of deli meat for protein with Ezekiel Bread or high fiber bread. For dinner, we make dinner or grab something quick. I still eat Chick Fil A way too much for dinner haha. I always get a 12 count nugget and a small fry. 🙂

Nursing

I am exclusively breastfeeding and also get asked a lot if this has helped me lose weight. I honestly don’t know – how can anyone tell if 1 thing is helping them lose weight? haha. It supposedly burns 500 calories a day, so doesn’t hurt by any means. 🙂 Exercising hasn’t effected my milk supply either. I always make sure to drink a lot of water, and have started using the strawberry lemonade Crystal Light Pure packets to help my water taste better! They have a little bit of caffeine in them too, so they’re a great morning and mid-day pick me up. I love the strawberry lemonade flavor!

Exercise

I follow the Tone It Up daily workouts. I try to workout 4 days a week (that’s what they recommend), and I’m really proud of myself for almost always getting my workouts in every week! I love Tone It Up (TIU) because the workouts are quick, easy to follow, and effective. I’m pretty uncoordinated – I can’t dance to save my life, so I appreciate the way their workouts are structured. They do have some routine and dance type workouts from time to time, and I almost always sub a different video focusing on the same muscle group. For me, I get so confused with the choreography that the workouts don’t end up being very effective for me on the dance-based ones haha. I wish I had rhythm, but I just don’t.

I’ve been doing the TIU workouts for about a year and a half now! I saw amazing results with them last spring/summer doing the bikini challenge, and was in the best shape of my life before we went to Mexico for our anniversary last May. I was then pregnant in early/mid June and was so happy that I was in shape early on in my pregnancy haha.

Lifestyle

In addition to working out, we walk with Liv outside in the stroller a few nights every week too. It’s been so nasty and rainy here, so I’m excited for the weather to clear up to be able to walk more with her. I love walking in the morning when it’s just the two of us too! Walking is such a great (and easy) form of exercise. I love wearing my new fitbit around the house during the day, because sometimes I need the reminder to get up and move if I’ve been sitting on my computer for too long or sitting down with Olivia.

Cute workout clothes that fit + feel good

This may sound lame, but I always feel like I do my best work when I look and feel my best. Getting cute workout clothes that fit you well and make you feel good make all the difference. They help give you an extra boost of confidence, no matter where you are on your journey! These Nike sneakers are my absolute fave (love these and these too), and these nike running shorts are the ones I wear every day. I also love this sports bra from Athleta. I don’t wear nursing sports bras because you need to shower after working out haha babies don’t like sweaty mamas! Lol!

Fitness Tracker

I’m the type of person that works out harder when I can see what I’m doing. I love tracking my workouts on my fitbit, because I love checking my heart rate and seeing how many calories I’ve burned. There’s just something satisfying to me about seeing a physical output when I’m working hard! I’ve worn a fitness/heart rate tracker since my last year in college (when I really got into working out), and can’t imagine working out without one now! Drew got me the Fitbit Versa for Mother’s Day and I LOVE it! It’s super easy to use, very accurate, and super cute. I may do a full review of it – if y’all would like to see that let me know. 🙂

skincare

Beautiful skin will always make you feel better, regardless if you’re still pregnant, trying to lose your baby weight, or anything! I use this self tanner to stay tan (& used it all throughout my pregnancy too). Having a tan just makes me feel good! I didn’t get any stretch marks during my pregnancy either. I moisturized like crazy day and night! I also took this collagen powder daily and swear that it made a difference. I still take it now every day and Olivia’s skin is like perfect. I truly believe it makes such a difference! 🙂

I’ll be sharing my skincare routine soon, but just wanted to remind y’all to take care of yourselves! As a new mom it can be hard to remember to take a moment every now and then to take care of yourself. ♥️
