Happy Wednesday y’all!!! Can’t believe we’re already halfway through the week? And Christmas is 4 days away? HOW?! Where did 2016 even go? It’s been such am amazing year, but it’s gone way too fast. As the year comes to an end, I wanted to share with y’all my favorite morning stretches. I do these stretches almost daily and I actually do them in the morning and night. Night-time is actually the best time to stretch your muscles, and helps you get ready for bed. But for me, stretching in the morning just feels so good! It wakes everything up in my body and makes me excited and rejuvenated to take on the day ahead!

These are all super easy, beginner stretches. The more you do them, the more flexible you will become. I love these stretches, and they never get old! As you become more flexible, you’ll be able to stretch lower and deeper. Stretching my body just makes me feel good. If you currently don’t stretch daily, I encourage you to make that a personal fitness goal! It takes less than 5 minutes, and the benefits are so worthwhile.

For my stretches I love wearing super comfy and soft leggings. The ones I am wearing are the Go Soft Legging in Granite from Albion Fit. I am OBSESSED with them. They fit like a glove and are so buttery soft. They’re definitely a high-waist legging, but are very comfortable. Just for my readers, y’all can get 15% off ANY purchase from Albion Fit until December 29! Use code ‘morgbullard’ to receive 15% OFF!!! Treat yourself to some new leggings for the new year. Working out is so much easier when you look cute! 🙂

My Morning Stretch Routine:

Stretch #1: Toe Touch – I actually like starting and ending my morning stretch routine with this one. I love to take a deep breath, and reach even further with my fingers. Repeat this stretch 3 times, taking a big breath and reaching forward, and holding. Hold between each breath for about 10-15 seconds.

Stretch #2: Cobra – this is one of my favorite stretches. It opens up your chest and I just feel like I can breathe so deeply during this stretch. For a deeper stretch, press even harder into your palms. This will allow you to stretch your back even more. 🙂 I like to hold this one for at least 30 seconds.

Stretch #3: Downward Dog – A classic stretch and it’s super easy to transition into from the cobra. This stretch actually helps improve posture! I’m so guilty of having poor posture, and this one totally helps! I hold this stretch for 15-30 seconds.

Stretch #4: Standing Toe Touch – The best stretch ever for your hamstring muscles and honestly this makes my neck feel so good too. If you cradle your arms and just let them hang while bent over, it feels AMAZING! I love doing this stretch for at least 30-45 seconds.

Stretch #5: Vertical Standing Stretch – I’m not even sure if that’s what this is called but I LOVE thus stretch too. It opens everything up and can actually elongate your spine, giving you better posture. Because of this, this stretch can actually help make you appear taller over time. 🙂 Feels good and makes me look taller? Um, yes please! I hold this stretch for 30-45 seconds.

Stretch #6: Chest-Opener – It’s hard to describe this stretch but I’ll do my best. Lock your fingers behind you, and stick your chest out while doing so. Pull your shoulder blades together and the same time for an amazing stretch. The tighter you squeeze your shoulder blades, the deeper the stretch. This stretch is super empowering to me because your opening up your body to take on the day ahead! I typically hold this stretch for at least 30 seconds.

I hope y’all enjoyed learning about my morning stretch routine! Taking just 5 minutes in the morning to focus on yourself and waking up your body makes a HUGE difference. Give it a try and be sure to let me know how you feel! 🙂 XOXO
