SHOP MY LOOK
Happy Monday! I hope y’all had a great weekend! 🙂 Ours was busy at times, but overall relaxing. We have been absolutely loving our new home, and our two little princesses have been loving it too. Now that our home is a lot bigger than our last one, keeping it clean and spotless has been no easy task. Thankfully Drew has been such a huge help!
Over the weekend, we were watching Christmas movies with out girls in our new, beautiful living room. We do everything with our dogs, and try to spend most of our weekend with our girls. The girls don’t get table food, however sometimes they are just too cute. I can’t help myself! I was eating dry cereal on the couch, while they were giving me the cutest puppy eyes! Finally, I caved, thinking, 2 pieces of cereal won’t hurt anyone. I get up to go get a drink, come back to find green dog throw up all over our brand new *white* rug. Was I mad at the dogs? No, not at all. I was so mad at myself, because I gave them table food! Our “holiday” cereal is full of green food coloring, aka great for making green stains on our rug.
Panicking that my new rug was surely ruined, I knew that I had to clean the stains quickly. I say stains because not only did she throw up once, but 3 times on the rug. 🙂 Thanks Penny or Charlie, you’re the best. Thanks to a good cleaner and careful care, our rug is good as new and stain-free! I know a lot of you have pets, kids, or messy husbands (haha), so I wanted to share my tips and tricks with y’all on how I keep my floors clean with 2 dogs.
6 TIPS ON HOW IÂ KEEP MY FLOORS CLEAN WITH 2 DOGS
TIP #1: Always wipe off puppy paws before coming inside. We keep a towel at our backdoor at all times to make this easier to follow. Clean paws mean less stains, and cleaner floors.
TIP #2: No table food. 🙂 Unfortunately we’ve learned this the hard way. It’s so hard, but no table food = less colorful stains.
TIP #3:Â Take off shoes in the house. Obviously this is a human rule, but is important for any area in your house where there is carpeting or a rug!
TIP #4: ALWAYS keep a good stain remover on hand. If you don’t have any cleaner, how are you going to remove a carpet stain? My fave is the STAINMASTER® Carpet Pet Stain Remover. I love this stain remover because it’s perfect for pet stains (I don’t need to go into details haha) AND regular everyday stains, too. It gets out things like coffee and dirt (yes even Georgia red clay). You can pick it up at your local Target, and there’s actually a Cartwheel offer for 10% off right now! I just used the offer yesterday when I re-stocked on my supply, because I never want to run out of this stuff! 🙂
TIP #5: Do NOT rub the stain, ever. Rubbing only pushes the stain down even further into the rug/carpet/fabric, so don’t rub! This only makes it more difficult to get out, and may take the stain permanent. Blotting is your best friend. Before removing the stain, blot as much as you can with a paper towel BEFORE using any cleaner. Once it’s soaked up, then spray your stain remover, wait, and then blot that up. With the Stainmaster Carpet Pet Stain Remover, it almost always comes out after the first try. If your stain is still noticeable, repeat the steps until it’s completely gone.
Mommy’s Little Helpers 😉
TIP #6: Don’t be crazy obsessive with keeping everything perfectly clean. My dogs don’t mean to make a mess so I try my best not to get mad at them, and most of all loving them no matter what. Even when they make a mess, I still love my girls to pieces and we can’t imagine our lives without them! 🙂
WHERE TO FIND STAINMASTER CARPET PET STAIN REMOVER
Below is where I get my Stainmaster cleaner at the Atlanta Midtown Target! It’s actually on the cleaning aisle, and super easy to find. If y’all are out and about, get a bottle, since I know y’all already make frequent Target trips if you’re like me! Make sure you use the coupon I mentioned above for 10% off, because isn’t everything better when it’s on sale? Stainmaster Carpet Pet Stain Remover is not available at all Target locations, but is available online. Click here to find Stainmaster Carpet Pet Stain Remover, or have it shipped for free, to your local Target store.
I hope those tips + tricks are helpful to you! For me, they’re life saving, or less-dramatially, they’re definitely carpet and rug saving! 🙂
