Thank you Nature’s Bounty for sponsoring this post.
Hey y’all! I’m so excited to be sharing this post today. Keeping my hair healthy and long definitely doesn’t happen by chance with me. I’ve tried so many things, and have finally found what works for me. 🙂 I want to share it with y’all, because sometimes we forget about beauty tips and tricks as time goes on. I’ve been wanting to do this post for almost a year now (such a long time!). This post is something that I’ve really been thinking about and can whole-heartedly back all of the tips I’m sharing today. I truly believe that outer beauty comes from within. Not just how you feel about yourself (which is super important!), but what you are putting inside your body. Most importantly, I hope that you find this post helpful, and please let me know if you currently do any of the things I’m recommending! 🙂
10 things I do to keep my hair long + healthy from the inside out
1. Do not use heat Every day
If you’re not going anywhere or if you can get away with air drying, do it! I let me hair dry at least 75% before blow-drying, and I only try to blow-dry my hair once a week, usually less than that. It significantly reduces damage the drier your hair is when blowdrying it. Dry shampoo has been my life-saver to washing my hair less every week. It’s important to understand that the reason people say don’t wash your hair every day isn’t because washing your hair is bad. It’s bad because typically people blow-dry and straighten/curl their hair every time they wash. So washing more frequently = more heat = more damage.
2. Take vitamin supplements to nourish your body from within
My favorite hair, skin, and nails vitamins of all time are the Nature’s Bounty Hair, Skin & Nails Gummies. They seriously taste like strawberry fruit snacks, and are SO yummy! I actually look forward to taking them every morning because they’re that good! It’s so much easier to remember to take them every morning, because I actually enjoy taking them because they’re so delish. I first tried these a few months ago, and was instantly hooked. They’re also super affordable and very effective. Nature’s Bounty is so confident in their product that they will refund you for any reason, if you don’t like it after 30 days if you take the Hair, Skin, & Nails challenge. I love these gummies because they’re packed full of beauty-boosting vitamins like Vitamin E, Biotin, & Vitamin C. These vitamins work from within to support lustrous hair, vibrant skin and healthy nails.* 🙂
3. Use a gentle hairbrush
be gentle anytime you brush your hair – especially when your hair is wet! The wetter your hair, the more pone it is to breaking and damage! Do not brush your hair in the shower – I used to do this and this is so, so bad for your hair!
4. Sleep with your hair in a scrunchie
I love sleeping with my hair pulled up at night, but regular hair bands can actually cause damage while you sleep. A scrunchie is super soft and the most gentle way to pull your hair up while you sleep. 🙂
5. Blast your hair with cold water
Rinse hair with freezing cold water after you condition. I know this sounds crazy, but I totally feel like this stimulates hair growth. It also makes your hair crazy shiny, so it’s worth it for that benefit alone. I lean back and just let my head in the cold water, and let it run through all of my hair for 30 seconds (or as long as I can stand it).
6. Nourish yourself to look (& feel) beautiful
The food you eat every day has a huge effect on your inner + outer beauty and appearance. I am super sensitive to dairy, and I actually found that cutting dairy from my diet I actually have ZERO breakouts now. It seemed ridiculous that dairy could be causing my breakouts, but it actually worked! I was shocked to see how much better I felt, and how much better my skin looked and felt after cutting out dairy. That mixed with my hair, skin, & nails vitamins, my skin has never looked better. Eatings foods that are high in healthy fats like avocado, olive + coconut oil, almond butter, and salmon will make a huge difference in your hair and skin health + beauty. 🙂
6. Use a heat protectant e-v-e-r-y time you style.
I use a heat protectant styling creme before I blow-dry when my hair is wet. When my hair is dry, I use another heat protectant spray to ensure it’s protected at all times. These sprays are also awesome if you’re out in the sun, and will protect your hair from UV damage (yes, that’s a thing!).
I hope y’all enjoyed these tips and let me know if you try them! XOXO Morgan
