I get so many questions on what I do to keep my hair long, bright blonde, and healthy! I will do a full blog post on this eventually, so please send me any questions you have! Below I am linking all of my current hair care products + tools that I use daily. 🙂
MY daily hair routine – washing + shampoo/conditioner
I only wash my hair 1-2 times a WEEK. Yes, a week! This helps minimize damage and honestly saves me so much time. Days 2+ I use this dry shampoo – it’s super affordable and nothing else better out there. Trust me, I’ve tried them all!
When I wash, I do NOT scrub my hair. I am very gentle and don’t ever get any tangles because I smooth the shampoo throw my hair, massaging my scalp gently. I never scrub or rub my hair in ever direction. This is my all-time fave shampoo. It’s very gentle and my hair just looks beautiful when I use it. It smells amazing too, and a little bit goes a very long way. I always wash my hair 2x to ensure it’s getting all the way clean, especially because I don’t wash it very often. I use this purple shampoo every time I wash, because it helps keep my blonde bright + blonde! I’ve tried so many and always go back to this one. 🙂 I usually let it sit for 3-5 minutes before rinsing it out, for maximum toning.
I use this coordinating conditioner to my shampoo, and love it. It leaves my hair super-soft, shiny, and manageable. It doesn’t weigh it down either! I condition the ends and a little bit of the middle, barely any at the top (I like to keep the volume at my roots). I ALWAYS rinse my conditioner and then do a final cold water rinse for ~30 seconds. This helps lock in shine, reduce frizz, and stimulates your scalp for hair growth! I use a hair mask 1x week-every other week. I love this hair mask, it’s the same line as my shampoo + conditioner! mainly focus it on the ends, or where my hair is feeling dry. Never on the roots!
hair products to prep before blow drying + curling
I always use a detangler/heat protectant, volumizing spray or mouse, and a hair oil every single time before I blow dry. This restore perfecting spray is a heat protectant + detangler, and it’s my favorite – I use it every time before I blow dry! I spray the detangler all over, especially on my ends. It works amazing, isn’t heavy (my hair is actually pretty fine), and I just love it.
This hair mousse is my favorite, isn’t sticky and doesn’t make my hair matte. I apply the mousse to my roots – the entire front, where I part + crown, underneath my hair, and throughout to the ends. On my ends + areas where I know me hair is dry/frizzy, I apply a small amount of hair oil. I never apply the oil to the underside or close to my roots to avoid getting greasy and my hair being weighed down. This oil is amazing, and this one is an all-time fave too – I use them both interchangeably!
how i style my hair every day
I let my hair air dry ~50% or more (depending on time) before I blow dry. This is the blow dryer I use and have a full post on how I curl + blow dry here. To blow dry, I just blow dry with my fingers and come through with my Wet Brush as I blow dry. Nothing special! Just making sure all sections stay straight and get completely dry. When my hair is nearly dry, I focus the round brush on each side of my part in the front for added volume.
I then curl my hair with this curling wand using the 1″ attachment. I have a full blog post on how I curl + blow dry my hair here. These curls last me 3 days, and I only curl once (usually) for overtime I blow dry. This heated brush helps get rid of bead-head and gives amazing root lift + volume in the front if you’re ever looking flat. I use it almost daily in the front to maintain volume. It only takes me 1-2 minutes!
tips for growing out your hair + keeping it healthy
Reduce the # of times you blow dry your hair + apply heat! Try buns, braids, ponytails, hats, anything to extend the number of days you go between washes. Curling, blow drying, and straightening your hair every day – it won’t ever grow because it’s constantly breaking off + getting damaged.
Go to a hair stylist that you trust! I get highlights (bleach) + lowlights (dark blonde) every 10-12 weeks, which is very hard on hair. If you bleach like me, don’t go every 6 weeks and lift your hair 20 levels lol. Try to find a shade where you can go longer in between highlights and baby your hair after you get it done! I always deep condition my whole head after I get my hair highlighted.
Always use a heat protectant! I don’t really use one before I curl, but always before I blow dry. This one is my fave!
Be GENTLE with your hair! Don’t rip through it with the brush, especially when it’s wet. It’s most prone to damage when wet, so be very gentle. That is why using a detangled is so important, to help minimize breakage when wet. Using a wet brush is essential too when you’re hair is wet, as it’s much gentler than typical paddle brushes. The Wet Brush the only hair brush I use! I keep one in my bathroom, my purse, and in my car!
SUPPLEMENTS FOR HEALTHY HAIR/SKIN
I take this collage protein supplement every day. I can’t promise you it’s life-changing, but it has made my skin noticeably different. I’m sure it’s working wonders for my hair too, it’s hard for me to say that this is your hair growth in a bottle though, because that doesn’t exist! Collagen is very very good for you though, so definitely consider adding it into your diet! I add this one into my morning coffee or smoothie! It doesn’t taste like anything and completely dissolves, it’s never chunky!
There is no magic hair growth pill. I truly believe hair health comes from within and there are many factors that go into hair length + health besides vitamins. They totally can help, but if you’re bleaching your hair every 6 weeks + drying, straightening/curling, etc. every day – your hair will not grow quickly, if at all!
Drink lots of water! Seems obvious, but is very helpful!
Eat good fats! Avocado is amazing for overall skin + hair health. Taking fish oil supplements are great too. Taking my prenatal vitamins has also helped with my hair growth, so that’s another thing you can always try out!
