I’m so excited to share this post with y’all today. I’m going to start off by thanking my amazing sister, mom, & grandmother for throwing me this shower. We actually had it at our house because our downstairs is so open, which is perfect for hosting a lot of people. 🙂 We are so lucky to have such wonderful friends + family in our lives that will now be a part of sweet baby girl Bullard’s life too. I felt so much love and excitement from everyone – it was truly such a special day!
Cake
It’s no secret that I have a sweet tooth. A good cupcake and a glass of milk are totally the way to my heart. I was sooo happy to find Cakes By Darcy for our shower cake + cupcakes. I found her online and knew that her cakes were so beautiful, and just the style I was looking for. When Drew picked up the cake + cupcakes from her store, he called me and was like seriously Morg, this is the prettiest cake I’ve ever seen! When he got home, I couldn’t believe how gorgeous the cake was. All of the flowers on top were hand made and all made of frosting/sugar. The amount of detail she put into our cake was seriously unbelievable!
The day of the party I fell even more in love with her cakes. Her cake was hands-down the best cake I’ve ever had. For the bottom layer, we did a white cake with buttercream and raspberry filling. The cake was so moist and light, and the raspberry filling + icing complemented the cake so perfectly. For the top cake layer, we did devil’s food with chocolate buttercream. It was death by chocolate, but in such a good way. The devil’s food was so rich and dense, and again one of the best chocolate cakes I’ve ever had. Honestly, my mom, Drew, and I agreed that this cake was even better than mine + Drew’s wedding cake! Her cupcakes were also heavily and seriously so light and delicious – the perfect amount of sweetness. For every party we have from here on out, we’re always going to use Cakes By Darcy! 🙂
Food
My shower was from 2-4PM, so we wanted to have light food for everyone. We used the Chicken Salad Chick for the little finger sandwiches and OMG, they were so yummy. We also had a huge bacon-covered cheeseball from them and I think I ate a quarter of it by myself. Oops. My sister picked out all of the food and did such a great job – it was so yummy! My sweet mama hand cut all of the vegetable trays, made the pasta salad from scratch (seriously so YUMMY!), and made her famous kale salad (she makes THE best copycat chick fil A kale salad). She also made the cutest little white chocolate dipped rice krispy treats, and covered the white chocolate in little edible pearls. If y’all want the recipes for any of the food, comment below or on my Instagram and I can share them!
Decor
Her nursery is a lot of white with touches of blush pink and gold and swan accents. I wanted her shower to be a similar style and I love how everything turned out. My baby shower invitations from Minted were the prettiest blush pink and gold foil, and were my inspiration for my shower colors! The invitations were seriously so gorgeous + perfect. My mom and sister were seriously amazing at putting everything together. The gold sequin tablecloths were so pretty, and even prettier in person! I was so obsessed with the glitter banner, swan + Baby Bullard cupcake toppers, straws, and confetti that By Emily Smith custom made for me. I love pretty fresh flowers, and was so impressed with how long the flowers from The Bouqs Co. lasted. We actually got them in the mail the day before the shower, and the day of they had opened a little but more and were seriously so beautiful. I LOVE garden roses and theirs seriously were the prettiest I’ve ever seen {and smelled AMAZING!}. They lasted well over a week after the shower too! The swan garland from Ollie and Avie seriously made my heart swoon. They’re all hand-sewn and I’m so excited to re-use them in her nursery. They’re seriously the cutest little things ever!!!
The little hair band favors from Plum Polka Dot were seriously just too cute. I wanted something practical and useful for my guests to take home with them, and these were perfect. These are my favorite style hairbands, and I love all of the color + print options she has. The pink, floral, and gold glitter ones I chose matched the theme perfectly! We also had little candy favors from Sugarfina out on the dessert table. These are seriously the best gummy bears I’ve ever had. We had a mix of the Baby Champagne Bears and the Bubbly Bears. Both were SO good, but I think the Bubbly Bears were my fave! 🙂
Games
We spent the majority of the time opening presents and playing games. For the games, we played ones that were easy for a large group to play altogether at one time. We played guess how big mommy’s belly is, the price is right, and guess the baby food flavor. My game signs + prints from Words and Confetti were seriously so perfect. The florals and golds matched everything is perfectly. She was so sweet and made them all match the Welcome sign that she also made for me, which was too cute. Her prints are seriously the cutest, and she does such an amazing job on making matching sets.
For the mommy’s belly game, we passed around a big ball of string and each guest cut the string to guess my belly size! I then walked around and let everyone put their string around my belly, and the closest person won! It was a lot of fun and I was so surprised at how close a few people got. 🙂 For the price is right, my mom bought a few baby essential items (baby shampoo, powder, nail clippers, bottles, pacis, diaper rash cream, etc.) and everyone guessed the price of each item and then added up their total at the end. The winner was the person closest to the grand total, and our winner she was only like 20 cents off! For the baby food game, my mom marked 5 unknown flavors of baby food, and they walked around with mini popsicle sticks and the jars of food for everyone to taste. 🙂 The winner was the person getting the most flavors correct! The apple-blueberry was actually pretty tasty! haha. 🙂
For the winners of each game, my sister made super-cute little gift baskets with candy, nail polish, and cute little goodies. We also did a diaper raffle at the end of my shower! Everyone that brought a pack of diapers put their name in a bowl, and I picked a winner! My sister made the cutest grand prize gift basket for the winner, and it was such a sweet + fun way to say thank you for everyone bringing much needed diapers. 🙂
Books
Instead of traditional cards with presents, I really wanted everyone to bring a signed book to have as a keepsake. I loved reading books with my mama growing up, and want to continue this tradition with our little girl. Some of my favorite books growing up were ‘The B Book’ by Dr. Duess {I can still quote it today} and ‘Love You Forever’ was another fave too. I remember laughing so hard with my mom reading books, and love that I have these memories with her. It was so sweet reading all of the sweet messages in the books that everyone brought, and it made my day to see how much thought went into everyone’s book choices + what they wrote inside the books. These will be such sweet keepsakes to have as she grows up, and she will see how truly loved she already was before she was even here. 🙂
We’re seriously over the moon with excitement for our sweet girls arrival. I seriously cannot believe that tomorrow will mark 5 weeks until due date. It’s so crazy to think that March 1 is almost here. I remember when we found out that we were expecting how far away March 1 seemed. Now, it seems like I blinked and it’s here! We’re so close to finishing up her nursery. I’m soooo excited to share it with y’all. Throughout the day I just find myself going in there to sit. Something about her room just makes me feel happy. 🙂 Thank y’all for sharing our excitement over her arrival, she is so lucky to have so much love in her life! XOXO
