GET THE LOOK:
Hey y’all! It has been a MINUTE since I’ve made a blog post. I’ve really just been enjoying the month of May, my vacation, our anniversary, and the long Memorial Day Weekend! My unintentional blogging break is over, and I’m back! 🙂 I’m really excited for the next few weeks as I have a few fun posts in store from vacation and other fun things I’ve been working on for y’all!
One request I’ve gotten pretty frequently from y’all is how to take an outfit from day to night. For me, I’m not wearing a smokey eye and 4 inch heels during the days (most days haha), so I’m all about comfort during the day. Here are my 5 tips to take an outfit from day to night with just a few easy swaps and changes! 🙂
5 Tips for How to Take an Outfit from Day to Night – with a Bodysuit
Accessories are seriously the easiest way to change the entire look of your outfit. Change up your bracelet, watch, earrings, necklace, and you can take a look from casual to dressy with ease. Sounds simple and it really is! I’m wearing a more casual watch for my day look, and then replace it with a dressier gold bangle for night. I got this bangle from my Spring FabFitFun Box, and I’m OBSESSED! I’ve totally gotten my money’s worth from my spring box with just the bangle alone. This Brooklyn Tote has been my go to carryall purse for the summer. It’s perfect for work, going to the pull, and traveling! I love the subtle monogram and that the leather will only get more beautiful as it ages.
For daytime I love sandals and wedges, but for night-time I’m all about a good heel! I’m a true believer that heels make you look tall and slender, and I always feel most confident in my favorite pair of heels. These sandals from Diba True are perfect for summer – they’re super comfy and adorable. I mean they’re leopard, so for that reason alone I’m obsessed. For my night look, I swapped my sandals for a chunky heel, and these heels were my seasonal splurge. I wear them ALL the time to work, out and about, on date nights, and love how they match everything up and love how they add a touch of edginess to any outfit.
Shorts or jeans are perfect for the day because they’re comfy and easy to just throw on. If you see me really anytime in the summer I’m wearing jean shorts. 🙂 To take your look from day to night, change out those shorts for a skirt! This one I’m wearing is the perfect maxi length and the slit shows just enough skin to make it sultry for the evening.
4. Lip color
I’m all about rocking a light pink lip during the day. This lip gloss in ‘Dolly’ & ‘Julie’ & this lipstick in ‘DiorKiss 578’ are my go to daytime lip colors no matter what I’m wearing. To make your evening look from day to night, a pop of bold lip color will do just the trick. I love darker pinks, raspberries, and reds. You want it to be a pop of color, but not too much, because you still want the focus to me your stunning outfit! My favorite bold lip colors are this one in ‘raspberry pie’ & this lipstick in shades 48, 5, & 52.
5. Hair style
I wear my hair in loose, brushed out waves almost every single day. I love wearing my hair half up, half down during the daytime becaus it keeps my hair out of my face. For the evening, I take my hatband out and wear it all the way down. Because the front has been pulled up all day, it gives you amazing volume in the front, which is an instant (and super effortless) way to make your hair look more done and full, even if you don’t spend any extra time on it! 🙂 Another way to take your hair from day to night is to put your hair up in a bun, sweep it loosely into a side braid, or a pull it back into a low ponytail! Changing your hairstyle is one of easiest ways to change up your look.
