Hair Care Routine

I’ve had so many people ask me about my hair care routine & what I use to keep my hair long, healthy, and looking good. Good products are essential in keeping your hair looking gaw-jus at all times. 🙂

Below, I created an easy to follow collage for y’all to see the hair products I use on a daily basis. Am I saying these are the only products I have ever used or will ever use? Absolutely not! Y’all know that I love trying the latest and greatest products all of the time. However, the products I am showing you for my hair care routine definitely work and work super well for me & my hair type. My hair type is colored (bleach it ~every 8-10 weeks), dry/split ends, greasy roots (like wash hair in am & already greasy right after lunch), frizzy if not styled correctly, and yeah that’s about it. Obviously those are my hair problems or concerns, I love my hair, but use products to treat my specific hair needs and concerns! 🙂

Below the collage I created a step by step picture tutorial for y’all on how I style my hair from soaking wet, to styled with curls. I hope y’all enjoy this hair care routine pictorial and that you learn something from it. 🙂 If you have any questions PLEASE feel free to reach out to me, I love when y’all reach out to me because it helps me be a better blogger! After all, y’ll are reading my content so I want it to be relevant to you!!!

MY HAIR CARE ROUTINE STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE WITH PICS:

hair care routine folica  STEP 1 CLEANSE & RENEW: To begin your hair care routine, wash your hair with your fave shampoo & conditioner. I use these Color Wow Color Security Shampoo & Conditioner, because they protect my color when I wash and they’re sulfate free! Meaning they don’t have any harsh soaps in them that strip my hair of color/shine/life haha. I love this conditioner as well because it is for fine/normal hair & doesn’t make my hair too soft/weigh it down. It’s so nourishing and light. They both smell INCREDIBLE too, which is so important for me in a shampoo/conditioner. I only wash my hair 2-3 times a week, to help protect it from heat styling/more damage. This also helps save on pricey shampoo conditioner price tags, because the product lasts longer and a little bit of products goes a long way as well.
*HAIR CARE ROUTINE TIP* After I rinse out my conditioner, I run freezing cold water on my hair for 30 seconds or more. I move the shower head to like spray on the wall and lean back so the freezing cold water doesn’t get on my body haha. The cold water really does make a difference in making my hair shinier. It also helps with hair growth as well! Because the water is so cold, it helps to stimulate your hair follicles on you scalp, which makes it grow faster. I have been doing this for the past few months, and have noticed a huge change. Even when I got my hair hi-lighted the other day, my hair dresser couldn’t believe how much my roots had grown out, especially on the underneath sections of my hair. 🙂
hair care routine folica    STEP 1 (cont’d): I do not mask or use ACV every time I shower. First of all because your hair doesn’t need it that often, and second of all I wouldn’t be able to afford it! I use my dpHUE ACV about once ever 2 weeks or so, and I feel like it just revitalizes it and gives some life back to my hair. This dpHUE hydrate hair mask therapy is so good if you have been heat styling a lot, or maybe you did a crazy updo that was super drying or damaging to your hair. I use this once ever 1-2 weeks, usually on Sunday. I don’t use this if I know I am going to be wanting volume in my hair, because it makes my hair super soft, which is great, but can make styling difficult (ie curls will fall out very easily). The ACV smells so much better than the ACV you have in your pantry, and the hair mask smells divine as well.

*HAIR CARE ROUTINE TIP*: concentrate mask from half of hair down to roots, avoiding anywhere near the scalp, especially you greasy gals like me!
hair care routine folica   STEP 2 PREP & PROTECT: My 3 must have styling products are a hair oil, a heat protectant, and a volume spray. We know blow drying & heat styling in general is bad for our hair, duh. These products help me blow dry & heat style, without the guilt of damaging my hair.

STEP 3 STYLE & FINISH: Use a blow dryer like this Sedu Revolution that is not super high heat, and has the option of turning on the ionic setting. The ionic setting will help lessen frizz for a smoother look. I usually turn the ion switch off to give my hair some more lift & volume. Having a dense round brush, like this Ibiza EX4, that is heat safe is very important too. It helps smooth the hair, and creates high tension on your hair, allowing you to form the look you want with the brush & blow dryer.

hair care routine folica   HOW TO STYLE: Spread hair oil on bottom half of your hair, concentrating on ends. DO NOT put this on your scalp or your hair will become limp & greasy, yuck. I love using a hair oil because I feel like it nourishes and moisturizes my hair where I need it most, my ends. They can get really dry and damaged from coloring and heat styling, so I try to protect them as best as I can.  The nth degree hair true repair hair serum works very well, and is super affordable, yay!

HOW TO STYLE: Spray heat protectant all throughout hair, roots, mid-shaft, ends, everything! A good heat protectant is essential for my hair care routine. Brush it through when finished to make sure everything is coated. I love this Theorie Heat Shield Thermal Spray because it is weightless and you can use it on wet & dry hair. I can’t even feel a difference on my hair when I use, which is perfect. I want heat protection without added weight or heaviness.

hair care routine folica    HOW TO STYLE: Spray volumizing spray only on roots. Use sparingly. I love this volumizing spray from Folica by Theorie because it doesn’t make my hair stiff or crunch. It gives a very nice hold, but is touchable and still soft.
hair care routine folica    HOW TO STYLE: Spray on roots continues. I like to life each side of my part up and give a couple sprays to the roots underneath. hair care routine folica
HOW TO STYLE: Blow dry! I like to rough dry (not blow out with round brush) my hair until its about 75% dry or more. I like to use my hair brush (just any old hair brush will work) to pull my hair down to get it straighter. I really focus on getting the back and underneath of my hair dried first before I use my round brush. hair care routine folica    HOW TO STYLE: When my hair is mostly dry, I take the round brush and blow out the front sections of my hair, to create lift & volume.
hair care routine folica    HOW TO STYLE: I will also take pieces from the top that are on my part, and pull them straight up to smooth them out and lift them up/give them volume as well.hair care routine folica    HOW TO STYLE: Sometimes the underneath sections of my hair can get wavy, so I pull them straight, using a down & out motion to make them smooth.
hair care routine folica    HOW TO STYLE: Blow dry complete!hair care routine folica    HOW TO STYLE: I will either curl or straighten my hair, but today I am showing y’all how I curl my hair with my AbsoluteHeat 1 1/4″ clip curling iron from Folica. It literally glides through my hair like butter, and doesn’t leave a clamp mark (praise). I will be doing a separate review/tutorial on this for sure, because I love it that much. It makes my curls so smooth too.
hair care routine folica    HOW TO STYLE: I make sure to spray my heat protectant all over my hair again in sections, before curling/straightening my hair. hair care routine folica

HOW TO STYLE: Hello little curl. I curl small 1-2″ sections, curling in bigger sections if I am short on time.
hair care routine folica    HOW TO STYLE: I hold curl it all the way up the the root, so my root is lifted and has more volume. Sorry if I have said lifted and volume a lot in this post lol. hair care routine folica

HOW TO STYLE: I make sure to spray my hair after I curl each section, so the curl stays and doesn’t fall.
hair care routine folica    HOW TO STYLE: Finished look with hair only spray lightly after each section was curled.hair care routine folica
hair care routine folica    HOW TO STYLE: For softer waves, I brush through my curls gently after the curls have cooled.hair care routine folica
hair care routine folica    HOW TO STYLE: I will then spray my hair again with the same hairspray that I used in between curling sections. This is the Fave4 Texture Takeover hairspray also from Folica and OMG. I am so obssessed. First of all, it smells like heaven in a can. Second of all, it gives such great grip and a matte-ish finish to my hair. It gives a textured hold that is so light and doesn’t weigh hair down at all, making it perfect for even more volume. I also find that when I use this spray right after I blow out/style my hair on the day I was it, it helps extend my blowout the next day-3 days that I do not wash! Did I mention that it smells great?hair care routine folica

HOW TO STYLE: Again, this is great hairspray for volume. Especially for you flat or greasy haired ladies like myself. 🙂
hair care routine folica    HOW TO STYLE: I lift up sections of my hair and spray inside each section, for even more, yep, volume!hair care routine folica

HOW TO STYLE:  Finished look, after brushed through and sprayed with Fave4 texture Takeover Hairspray.

HOW TO STYLE: If you prefer a shinier finish, this hairspray is amazing too and smells just like the other texture takeover hairspray. This is the Fave4 Flex Reflect Spray hairspray.  hair care routine folica

HOW TO STYLE: Ok, so this part of my hair care routine is to help my hair grow! I just started using this, so I cannot say quite yet how well it works, however there is a ton of scientific research to back this product up! It is supposed to help create 13,000 new hairs on your head, and help you grow your hair out longer. I am so excited to start seeing results with this Grow Gorgeous Hair Growth Serum. I apply 20 drops to my hands, rub them together & disperse the product into my roots. I massage my roots until all of the serum is absorbed. I do this daily, and it is now a part of my everyday hair care routine. I usually do this before bed, and it never makes my hair greasy or heavy. My hair feels the exact same after as it did before!

I hope y’all found this helpful! All of the products I mentioned that I use in my hair care routine are available through Folica! I love shopping at Folica because they have amazing products, fabulous customer service, and stand behind the products they sell. Again, please reach out to me on here, Instagram, or by email if y’all have any questions. I hope y’all have a fabulous weekend & I love you all so much, seriously! 🙂
